An archipelago of sixty islands, islets and cays dotted around a stretch of water known as the Sir Francis Drake Channel, the British Virgin Islands are a natural watersports paradise.
Renowned for many years as the ultimate sailing destination, the islands now offer small stylish hotels and resorts, private islands and luxury hideaways. UUnspoilt, low key, rustic chic is the style of many of the hotels and private villas on islands with evocative names like Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada.
It is in the British Virgin Islands that Sir Richard Branson has his private island home of Necker, and where many A list celebrities choose to spend their holidays, either on board luxury yachts, in spacious beachside villas or in one of the exclusive hotels that make the BVIs a popular paparazzi free destination.
Spectacularly beautiful both above and below the turquoise seas where the Caribbean meets the Atlantic, the BVIs are as yet undiscovered by the travelling masses, and remain
untouched by commercialism and still one of the best kept tropical holiday secrets.
